Extract from the commercial register accord. to §14 GewO (German trade regulations)
The commercial register is maintained by the local communities and includes all companies and businesses listed in accordance with the German trade regulations (GewO) the registered offices of which are located in the corresponding community.
Public authorities and private individuals can file an application to request information from the commercial register in the form of an extract. The consent of the person concerned regarding the transmission of his or her data is not required.
The name of the business or owner, the business address, and the disclosed activity are publicly accessible. For any additional information from the commercial register, a legal interest must be demonstrated (for example filing of legal claims; loans granted to the person holding the business licence).
Third parties are not entitled to communication of this data. The commercial register is not a public register (such as, for example, the trade or cooperative register or the register of associations). The responsible authorities decide whether or not the information will be provided.
Extracts from the commercial register correspond to the information known to the business registration office at the time the information was requested. The authority makes no claim to the accuracy and completeness of the information.
Information on deregistered businesses will not be provided.

Informal application in writing, including the following:
- Name of your company or name of the person holding the business licence,
- Last known address,
- Personal information.
If additional information is requested:
Evidence of legal interest by way of description of the facts and attachment of existing documents (e.g. debt certificate, copies of contracts, invoices).
